  • Serve as a clinical expert and resource to nursing, medical, and therapy teams for patients with complex wound, ostomy, and continence needs.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based standards of care, protocols, and training programs that advance WOCN practice across the organization.
  • Lead hospital-wide initiatives in skin integrity, pressure injury prevention, and wound management, including routine data collection and quality bench-marking.
  • Design and deliver structured education, training, and competency assessments for new hires and ongoing staff development—ensuring every team member is confident in skin and wound management fundamentals.
  • Provide direct consultation and care planning for patients with ostomies, stomas, incontinence, and both acute and chronic wounds, addressing the physical and psycho-social aspects of healing.
  • Partner with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to optimize wound care interventions, ensuring timely updates to treatment plans supported by research and clinical evidence.
  • Participate in weekly skin rounds, collaborating with inpatient teams to identify trends, prevent complications, and optimize healing trajectories.
  • Monitor organizational adherence to skin care protocols, conduct prevalence audits, and drive continuous improvement based on OBQI/OBQM data and regulatory compliance.
  • Support inventory management, product evaluation, and vendor collaboration to maintain a streamlined and cost-effective formulary of advanced wound care supplies.
  • Serve as a mentor and coach for WOCN students; contributing to the future of the specialty.
  • Participate in Craig Hospital committees, including the Skin Committee and Product Evaluation Committee, to influence policy and advocate for clinical excellence.
  • Step into bedside care or clinical troubleshooting when needed to support staff and uphold care standards.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:Licensure & Certification:
  • Active Colorado RN license (required)
  • Current BLS certification (American Heart Association required)
  • Wound and Ostomy Certification from a recognized WOCN- accredited program (required)
  • Continence Certification (strongly preferred)
Education:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program (required)
  • Master of Science in Nursing or related field (preferred)
Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years RN experience in spinal cord injury/brain injury rehabilitation (preferred)
  • 1–3 years of advanced wound care practice and education delivery (preferred)
Skills & Strengths:
  • Expertise in wound healing science, ostomy care, and continence management in a rehab setting
  • Knowledge of SCI/BI patient needs and med-surg or neuro-rehabilitation care models
  • Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities
  • Confidence in leading education programs, staff mentoring, and competency evaluations
  • Collaborative spirit with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in quality improvement, documentation review, and clinical data interpretation
  • Tech-savvy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and EMR systems
  • Spanish-speaking ability (preferred)

Additionally, you will be able to take advantage of the programs offered through the Employee Assistance Programs.Pay Range: $38.77/ Hour - $55.84/ Hour + 18% Per-Diem Differential
