Worksite based - Omaha, NE Targeted Years of Experience: 5-7 years Job Summary: Looking for a Capital Contractor to join the team in Nebraska. The role is a highly active field position focused on network expansion and maintenance. The hiring manager is looking to fill this position as soon as possible. Location and Work Environment • Primary Location: The candidate must be located in or willing to relocate to Omaha, Nebraska, at their own expense. This is a firm requirement. • Work Model: This is a field-based role, with an estimated 85-100% of time spent in the field. • Office : The candidate will primarily work out of their own personal vehicle. They are not required to report to a central office daily but will have access to the West Omaha switch location to pick up parts or use a desk. • Travel: The role involves travel within the Omaha market, rural Nebraska, and potentially parts of Iowa and South Dakota. Overnight stays may be required. • Expenses: Mileage and pre-approved hotel expenses will be reimbursed. • On-Call: There is an on-call rotation one week per month, which includes nights (5 PM - 6 AM) and full weekends (Saturday/Sunday). Duties may include remote work or emergency field response. Key Responsibilities • Perform carrier ad scripting for an Ericsson-based market. • Work on C-band build projects and Westel installs (scripting and activating remote units). • Configure and work with Ciena routers (primary) and some Cisco routers. • Provide potential support to teams in adjacent markets (e.g., Iowa). • Handle emergency response and troubleshooting during on-call rotations. Skills and Requirements • Top Non-Negotiable Skills: o Strong computer skills and a technical mindset. o Knowledge of scripting (Python is used). o Solid understanding of IPs, routing, and network interfacing (both command-line and GUI). o Experience with telecommunications fundamentals, including routers and fronthaul. o Background in power systems (e.g., -48V, +24V power). • Equipment Experience: o Ericsson equipment is essential. o Ciena router configuration. • Preferred Qualifications: o Previous experience with Telecommunication (as an employee or contractor) is a plus but not required. o Familiarity with cell site layouts. • Other Requirements: o Must have a valid driver's license and a reliable personal vehicle. No special DOT license is needed.Hiring Process • Interviews: Sally plans to interview the top five candidates. Interviews will be conducted via Webex video and will be a panel format, including a peer and a technical lead. • Onboarding: A comprehensive on-the-job training (OJT) program is provided, which takes approximately 4-6 weeks to complete. It includes system access, equipment training, and cell site walk-throughs with a dedicated trainer. Description: You'll be field support assisting the field engineers with capital projects and remote support for tower crews while focusing on driving the results for ***'s network build. You many also performing optimization, troubleshooting, and maintenance of base station equipment, RF transmitters, and Fiber network. • Testing the fiber network and integrating network hardware to bring new products on-air and enhancing the customer experience. • Complying with company- and industry-wide standard directives to maintain network performance and enhance efficiency. • Understand the team dynamic to create an atmosphere of teamwork and positivity. • Facilitate knowledge sharing across teams. • Work with cross-functional groups external to local peers to complete projects / feedback / improvements / participation in group functional meetings. Area of responsibility: You will provide field support in Nebraska You're tech savvy and well-versed in all things telecommunications. Working independently suits you well. You're also thorough, vigilant, and on top of the details - someone people count on to solve problems and to make sure they don't happen in the first place. • You'll need to have: • Associate's degree or two or more years of work experience. • Three or more years of relevant work experience. • Valid driver's license. • Willingness to travel up to 25%. • Willingness to work a flexible 24/7 shift and on-call as needed. • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation. • Ability to report to the assigned territory within 45 minutes of notice to provide coverage. Even better if you have one or more of the following: • A technical degree in Electronics or Telecommunications. • Experience troubleshooting antenna systems from transmitter to antenna using tools like a spectrum analyzer. • Experience in PIM/VSWR/MIMO/RET including knowledge of fiber and LTE remote radio heads. • Electronics training in telecommunications, two-way radio, paging, or microwave radio. • Training in data communications, digital communications, operating systems and applications, computer support, scripting, project management, or power. • Experience with Client, Client, Nokia, Samsung, or Ericsson, base station equipment with LTE or CDMA technology. • Telecom experience such as T1, DACS, or OMP. • Experience with dark and lit fiber testing using equipment such as OTDR, fiberscope. Experience with Ciena, Fuji or Nokia Ring topologies. • Computer support experience, including troubleshooting PC hardware and configurations. • Power experience such as Galaxy, Lorain, or DC distribution systems.
