About the Job
Are you ready to shape the future of medicine? The race is on to speed up drug discovery and development to find answers for patients and their families. Your skills could be critical in helping our teams accelerate progress.
The proposed position is based within the Process Modeling and Data Science group within CMC Development, R&D. Our group is comprised of process modelers and data scientists focused on using mechanistic, data-driven, and hybrid models to accelerate process development activities.
We are interested in developing a metabolic model for antibody-producing Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells. In collaboration with the Cell Culture Platform (CCP) team, our goal is to be able to accurately simulate intracellular fluxes within the cell and use this information to predict how the cells would respond to changing culture conditions. In silico experiments can then be carried out to generate insights that support process and media optimization efforts.
The ideal co-op candidate will have knowledge and hands-on experience in modeling mammalian cell metabolism using conventional approaches, such as flux balance analysis (FBA) or metabolic flux analysis (MFA). Understanding of experimental data in the form of growth rates, specific consumption and secretion rates, intracellular pool sizes, and/or isotopic labeling patterns will be needed in order to incorporate them into the model as constraints. This is an exciting opportunity to demonstrate the benefits of process modeling and data science towards accelerating the development of cutting-edge medicines that will improve the quality of life for patients across the world.
We are an innovative global healthcare company with one purpose: to chase the miracles of science to improve people's lives. We're also a company where you can flourish and grow your career, with countless opportunities to explore, make connections with people, and stretch the limits of what you thought was possible.
