Summary/Objectives of Position
The Wellness & Recovery Manager is the project manager for the Adult Recovery Grant (ARG) program at the Bakersfield American Indian Health Project (BAIHP). This position is responsible for ensuring that the program meets grant goals and objectives. The position is also responsible for a variety of tasks and managing the team responsible for helping individuals transition successfully back into society and the community after incarceration. As part of the ARG team, this position will support comprehensive case management services for the adult reentry and community program for the program participants as they navigate their career pathway, working in partnership with team members in orienting and assessing participant readiness for programming, identifying strengths, and challenges to achieving goals.
As the manager of the program, this position will work closely with other BAIHP managers and program staff to monitor progress and coordinate referral supports. This position will also work with external partners to ensure that services are coordinated and that program participants are fully able to engage.
Essential Duties, Functions & Responsibilities
- Responsible for the planning, management, and implementation of the ARG program.
- Create and provide leadership in developing and maintaining a commitment to accomplishing the goals and objectives of the program.
- Participate as an active member of Kern community groups and other agencies where participation provides value to the program.
- Support the team by providing management and leadership to the team.
- Assign and review the work of the program team.
- Assist BAIHP staff and team members in resolving complex and/or technical problems and interpret and explain internal rules and regulations.
- Ensure meeting program objectives by meeting regularly with the team to provide direction and to ensure goals and objectives are being met.
- Responsible for the coordination, planning, and implementation of program evaluation activities, which include the development and implementation of program data.
- Ensure the program's statistical reports regarding the grant progress are completed promptly.
- Responsible for the communication of program activities to the executive team.
- Responsible for the development and training of program staff.
- Work closely and assist the Finance department with the budget tracking and expenditures for the program.
- Responsible for data analysis and trends to evaluate programs and services, outreach, and impact. May be required to prepare statistical reports.
- Review, analyze, and interpret legislation, statistics, and financial reports as related to the grant information.
- Responsible for the development of BAIHP policy and procedural guidelines.
- Develop partnerships and innovative integrated approaches to service delivery.
- Work collaboratively with providers and community-based organizations to ensure that participants receive the assistance needed that BAIHP may not provide.
- Ensure and develop the reputation of the program with the community by responding to complaints and inquiries and ensuring participant issues are addressed promptly.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate participant files and records according to program guidelines.
- Responsible for ensuring that the team has entered all data in the electronic case management system within the appropriate period after service delivery to ensure that participants do not see delays or issues.
Minimum Mandatory Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, criminal justice, or related field.
- Master's degree in social work, business administration, psychology, or related field preferred.
Experience:
- 3 years of experience working with justice-involved populations.
- 5 years of experience in program/project management.
- 5 years of experience in case management.
- Lived experience with recovery, reentry, or health disparities is preferred.
License/Certification:
- Valid CA driver's license.
Skills:
- Proven track record of success in project/program development.
Communication Skills:
- Demonstrates proficiency in communication and writing skills.
- Language skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general and professional documents.
- Ability to write routine and correspondence.
Interpersonal Skills:
- Ability to foster teamwork; train and direct the work of team members and colleagues
- Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to work productively and make independent decisions.
Technology:
- Familiar with electronic healthcare records systems.
- Proficiency with using computer-based applications (e.g. Microsoft Office) and clinical information management systems.
