Basic Function Under the direction of the Associate Director of Student Life, the Wellness Coordinator is responsible for managing the creation, development, and implementation of wellness programming and education, overseeing the operations of the Wellness Resource Center in addition to management of the campus outdoor recreation program. Representative Duties
  • Coordinate the planning and implementation of campus wellness activities which may include workshops, social events, co-curricular learning, outdoor recreation activities and trips. E
  • Develop and enhance programs and events related to all areas of wellness (ie. mental, physical, social, emotional, financial, environmental and spiritual health). E
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Wellness Resource Center. E
  • Keep abreast of current national wellness initiatives and activities, develop a network of resources and contacts to further expand the program offerings. E
  • Utilize research-based methods to foster a campus environment that nurture optimal student learning, development, resilience, and well-being.
  • Supervise, hire, and provide on-going training to student employees. E
  • Serve as the university recreational and wellness programming liaison with various internal (e.g. faculty, community organizations and intercollegiate athletics) and external organizations and agencies. E
  • Manage allocated budget(s). E
  • Market programs and events, including website maintenance and communication with the university community. E
  • Create innovative outreach strategies to student populations to increase engagement. E
  • Keep accurate records regarding student participation and program outcomes. E
  • Perform appropriate assessment of participation and events related to all programs. E
  • Contribute to the development of strategic goals for student programming. E
  • Contribute to overall goals of program development and service to students as a member of the Student Life staff and as an active participant in staff meetings and the university community as a whole. E
  • Participate in the implementation and planning of major student programs. E
  • Be a positive role model for students. E
  • Increase avenues of communication with students by maintaining visibility, availability, and approachability. E
  • Provide leadership on projects as assigned. E
  • Make appropriate referral to various campus offices and personnel as well as off-campus support services. E
  • Support campus-wide projects and programs, such as, but not limited to, Homecoming and Family Weekend, New Student Orientation, Commencement and Admitted Student Day. E
  • Collaborate with other Student Life areas and other university departments. E
  • Stay abreast of current CLU, regional, and national trends regarding wellness programming and education through such means as professional organizations, listservs, relationships with other institutions, and attendance at appropriate professional conferences. E
  • Serve on campus-wide and Student Affairs related committees as needed. E
  • Serve as department liaison with other areas of the University. E
  • Assist in general problem solving and participate in campus crisis response, as appropriate. E
  • Be available as necessary, often including evenings and weekends, to meet student and staff needs and address concerns. E

  • Issues as it relates to wellness programming (ie. alcohol and other drug education, Title IX prevention education, stress reduction and management, nutrition, positive body image, health safety, and more.) in a college environment.

Minimum Qualifications Any combination equivalent to: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, and two years of experience (e.g., graduate assistantship) working with wellness-related programming as it relates to college-age students, and/or recreation programs. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree is preferred. Demonstrated commitment to and successful experience working in diverse, multicultural, and multi-racial communities. Licenses and other requirements California Driver's License. Physical Abilities Detect to understand appropriate written correspondence; communicate clearly to exchange information in person and on the telephone; operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer; stationary position for extended periods of time; move or transport light objects up to 50 lbs; position self to store and/or retrieve items. Environment Busy office environment with frequent interruptions. Some evening and weekend hours required. Some travel is required, which includes driving a vehicle to conduct work. Indoor and outdoor work environment. Occasional contact with dissatisfied individuals.
