General Summary of Position

Responsible for maintenance of Medstar Adaptive Fitness program according to department standards and established safety protocols. Participates in Community Adaptive Fitness activities.

PRIMARY DUTIES1. Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies,procedures, quality standards and safety standards.2. Coordinates the implementation of effective evidence based fitness classes as part of the Medstar NRH adaptive fitnessprogram. Provides education and training to all participants and caregivers to ensure successful and safe participation.Ensures logistical support needs are provided for delivery of fitness program. Demonstrates consistent teamwork withinthe adaptive fitness program and the Therapeutic Recreation department.3. Facilitates transition to the adaptive fitness program for inpatients and outpatients including education, coordinatingparticipant schedules and activities. Provides quality care established guidelines regarding safety, confidentiality, andappropriate paperwork. Participates as a team member for all organizational support for the adaptive fitness program,including but not limited to trainer education and meetings.4. Maintains accurate and timely documentation of fitness participation numbers and survey results. Assists in organizingcomprehensive reports and other written documents in a timely manner. Provides monthly progress reports in theattainment of program objectives and quarterly participation records. Collects and compiles data as indicated forprogram needs.5. Demonstrates effective time management and meets productivity expectations. Maintains accurate schedules for fitnessprogram. Ensures necessary supplies and equipment available for fitness. Is timely, punctual, and prepared.6. Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serveson committees and represents the TR department and hospital in community outreach efforts as appropriate.7. QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in related field. Required 2 years of appropriate experience. At least two (2) years' experience in disability awareness and adapted sports/fitness. Required and 1-2 years two years' experience in personal training. NASM - Fitness Instructor Certification or equivalent Required AHA Heart Saver Card Required

This position has a hiring range of $41,953 - $72,883
