The Welder Trainee will be immersed in their assigned departments, learning the foundational work necessary to become a Welder I and continue to develop their skills. This role sets qualified candidates up for a pathway to a long-term welding career at Astec, with opportunities for advancement. The position involves assisting in fabrication, preparation, and finishing tasks while working in a production team.Responsibilities
- Clean and prepare production areas
- Handle materials by loading/unloading metal parts and moving heavy materials
- Prepare metal by cleaning, grinding, cutting, etc
- Assist other workers on-site with various jobs
- Follow instructions from supervisors to perform manual labor tasks
- Comply with all safety protocols to ensure the safety of employees
- Participate in hands-on training and classroom learning for welding techniques
- Move throughout departments as needed to assist in various tasks
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment
- Perform other job functions as assigned by the supervisor

- Lift 50 lbs
