Salary: Depends on Qualifications Location : Main Campus (BG), OH Job Type: Full-Time Remote Employment: Flexible/Hybrid Job Number: BGSU00749 Division: Enrollment Management Department: Financial Aid Opening Date: 04/10/2025 Closing Date: Continuous Pay Grade: 354 Summary Under the direction of the Associate Director, Systems and Assessment for the Student Financial Aid Office, this position is responsible for the design, development, testing, and ongoing maintenance of database-driven dynamic web applications. The position requires problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, as well as knowledge of current web technology, programming languages, databases, system integration, and security standards. A working knowledge of Title IV financial aid administration work processes is desired. Essential Functions
  • Design, develop, and test web applications by applying knowledge of programming, database management, web technology, system integration, security, usability, and graphic design. Develop and maintain user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for interactive functionality Provide appropriate documentation and training to users of web applications.
  • Maintain all web applications as needed. Add or modify functionality when necessary. Optimize backend queries and structure for performance and scalability on an Oracle Database Perform annual updates to web applications which require such updates. Debug, troubleshoot, and enhance existing applications to improve functionality, performance, or user experience. Manage user security and access to web applications. Provide updated documentation and training when necessary.
  • Create, update, and maintain the scheduling of php and shell scripts. Maintain files and collaborate with ITS on configuration and settings of the application server. Implement secure coding practices to safeguard data and protect against vulnerabilities.
  • Maintain current and working knowledge of web technology, including browser software, scripting and markup languages, and electronic media. Conduct research on existing and emerging web technology. Provide leadership team with information on the future direction of web technology.
  • Provide assistance to the leadership team with reporting on financial aid data.
  • Provide individual functional users with assistance and support in the use of SFA web applications. Assist SFA supervisors in the administration and annual maintenance of more advanced functionality. Provide recommendations on security and provide access to applications for all users.
  • Update department public website. Serve as a backup for the systems unit when needed. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications The following Degree is required:
  • Bachelor's Degree. Degree must be conferred at time of application.
The following Experience is required:
  • 1 year of web programming, web design, and/or relational databases
    • 1 year of experience as a GA or student experience is equal to 6 months of professional experience

  • Programming languages: PHP, .NET, JAVA
  • Web Technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML
  • Basic Graphic Design
  • Query/Reporting: SQL
