Consider joining the WSP team as a technical and business development leader for the Illinois water and wastewater market. This position will be located out of any of our Illinois offices as WSP USA operates with a flexible Hybrid-Workplace Model. Come be involved with our Midwest Team and be part of a growing organization that solves complex water, wastewater, and stormwater challenges.

Your primary role will be to lead technical project delivery, provide technical quality reviews, to guide key technical design decisions and make recommendations to our clients that will guide future ready infrastructure solutions for our largest wastewater clients on our most complex projects. You will collaborate with our dedicated, local design teams, while being supported by our international expertise. You'll work with water, geotechnical, tunneling and transportation engineers, and environmental and permitting experts. Through your technical expertise, you would excel at building relationships with our clients, becoming their trusted partner.

Responsibilities include providing local technical assistance for the design, development, and construction of infrastructure projects and systems in the public and private sector as well as providing leadership within the State of Illinois for development of future work with local governments and municipalities. Tasks may include basic assistance with the research, design, concept development, and construction of infrastructure, buildings, tunnels, dams, bridges, water supply systems, and wastewater systems. Generates accurate and concise documentation regarding assigned aspects of projects. Through your technical expertise, you would excel at building relationships with our clients, becoming their trusted partner as the WSP client manager for key clients throughout the State.

Your Impact

  • Review engineering work including hydrologic analyses, water systems, and wastewater designs.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports documenting project specific technical solutions specific to project demands.
  • Development of water and wastewater clients within the State of Illinois
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert in water/wastewater applications on water and wastewater conveyance, treatment, and pump station design projects guiding design approach and activities.
  • Coordinate, review and approve of infrastructure design plans, ensuring data integrity and work is compliant with all applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.
  • Collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide future ready solutions for clients.
  • Be active in local professional organizations and remain current in latest water engineering techniques.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
  • As part of client support, prepare and submit the requisite applications for permits and support documentation required by the various regulatory agencies with jurisdictional purview over water resources projects.
  • Provide support to a diverse team of professionals in multiple offices throughout the country.
  • Conduct assignments/projects with a high degree of initiative and independence.
  • Complete tasks on schedule with pride and ownership of your work.
  • Provide guidance and expertise to company staff and clients to resolve complex water resources related problems and issues.
  • Attend project meetings with clients and local government officials to assist with the presentation and explanation of the water resources aspects of the project.
  • Manage a team of engineers to oversee design objectives and review deliverables prior to client submittal.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience.
  • PE required with registration preferred in at least Illinois or capable of being registered within 6 month of hire.
  • Detailed oriented and a work ethic to achieve high quality results.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Demonstrated high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from data, arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.
  • Provide support to a diverse team of professionals in multiple offices within the Region.
  • Conduct assignments/projects with a high degree of initiative and independence.
  • Provide guidance and expertise to company staff and clients to resolve complex water and wastewater related problems and issues.
  • Attend project meetings with clients and local government officials to assist with the presentation and explanation of technical aspects of the project.
  • Manage a team of engineers to oversee design objectives and review deliverables prior to client submittal.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
