Salary : $55,256.00 AnnuallyLocation : Dearborn 48120, MIJob Type: Full timeJob Number: 03102Department: Public Works and FacilitiesOpening Date: 04/17/2025Closing Date: Continuous DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORKThis position is responsible for the skilled operation, construction, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater systems. Acts as lead worker to employees in lower classifications. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTYPICAL CLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Prepares, tests, and maintains water hydrants.Operates equipment to turn water systems on and off as needed.Maintains water systems, including: checking systems for leaks; repairing damage to drains and other equipment; and performing related tasks. May repair pipes, taps and water mains.Collects water samples and performs tests.Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance, including attendance at required meetings.This job description is intended to represent only the key areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the business needs of the department. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS KNOWLEDGE:Water distribution, wastewater, and related systems;Applicable tools and equipment;Applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations;Occupational hazards and safe work methods and practices.SKILLS:Performing water and sewerage system maintenance and repair activities;Interpreting maps and blueprints;Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with the general public and others to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Very Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to mechanical parts, fumes, extreme temperatures, and environmental threats.
