LocationRochester, NY | Onsite

Compensation & Schedule• Pay range: $32–$42/hour• Full-time, W2• Standard industrial schedule; subject to emergencies or overtime as needed

Role ImpactSeeking a Water Specialist to operate and maintain industrial water systems across a large industrial park. This role requires collaboration, effective communication across teams, and strong mechanical and electrical aptitude. Responsible for ensuring water quality, system reliability, and regulatory compliance.

Key Duties

  • Perform daily operations, maintenance, and lab testing for water collection, filtration, treatment, and high-purity systems
  • Operate and maintain chemical feed and instrumentation control systems
  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance plans for water systems and ensure recordkeeping in work order software
  • Coordinate shutdowns and repairs with contractors and internal teams
  • Supervise contractors for safety compliance and quality workmanship
  • Conduct data management and system monitoring using advanced control systems
  • Provide area-specific training for operational and emergency response
  • Manage chemical and equipment inventories for assigned systems

Essential Qualifications• High school diploma or GED• 5 years of experience in water treatment or high-purity water generation• Valid NYS driver's license• Ability to obtain NYS DOH Grade-D certification within 12 months• Willingness to pursue NYS DOH Grade 1A Operator Certification (up to 10 years)• OSHA 10hr certification upon hire; OSHA 30hr within 12 months; OSHA HAZWOPER 40hr within 3 months• Ability to obtain required safety operator licenses (fork truck, man lift, scissor lift) within 12 months• May obtain Rochester city S-3 Operating license within 12 months

Equipment & Work Environment• Heat exchangers, surge suppressors, vacuum breakers, air compressors, filtration systems, chemical feed systems, and specialized water quality instruments• Work inside and outside in extreme weather and temperatures ranging from below freezing to over 100°F• Physical demands include climbing, crawling, and lifting/moving equipment up to 50 lbs, with occasional movement of chemical drums over 50 lbs• Work in confined spaces, noisy, or dirty environments and operate heavy machinery

Preferred Skills• Experience with distributed control systems (Emerson Ovation®, Wonderware®, PI®, Delta-V®, Provox®)• Knowledge of laboratory testing protocols for water quality and treatment• Proficiency with preventive maintenance and reliability programs
