Salary : $39,205.00 - $43,224.00 Annually Location : Globe Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: 25 - 16 Department: Public Works Division: Water Opening Date: 06/30/2025 General Purpose This is a full time, non-exempt (hourly) clerical position at our Public Works yard, reporting to Assistant Public Works Operations Director. Grade 10. Performs technical, administrative, and clerical work in maintaining water system compliance and coordination of utility and other public works services. Examples of DutiesCoordination of Utilities
  • Receives telephone calls and citizen visits concerning utility billings or services; handles Tier II questions and matters of a more technical nature; responds to citizen complaints.
  • Accept all public requests and route to correct person or department.
  • Processes work orders for utility disconnections, reconnections, new orders, trash pickup emergencies, and other public works service requests.
  • Processes and tracks all sewer common line abatement request
  • Generate utility-based reports as needed by Public Works, City Council or the Finance Department (annual and/or monthly, water usage, water and wastewater reporting).
  • Manage meter readers to maintain status of account activities and compliance issues.
  • Handle public service announcements, Blue Stakes, issuing work orders to all public works departments and handling results when complete.
  • Manage Cross-Connection Control Program; maintain and update software on a regular basis; send annual compliance notices monthly; keep individual accounts updated; send invoices; hold all certified tester information and keep it updated in the system.
  • Manage GIS addressing and street name information for all of City of Globe area; includes assigning addresses for new and existing structures; notifying Gila County and all utility companies of any changes made to the current City map; and working closely with the engineering department to maintain all other updates to GIS maps.
  • Handle all Blue Stake requests for the City; manage incoming Blue Stakes from other utilities; update and maintain the map used for AZ811 on their website at their request.
  • Water System Compliance
  • Do final check of all wastewater reports prior to sending them to ADEQ (DMR-monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, annually and SMRF-quarterly, semi-annually and annually).
  • Do all Water reporting to ADEQ and ADWR (annual Consumer Confidence Report, Annual Water Use Report and send Adequate Water Supply Report) as well as all monthly, quarterly, annually and triennial testing and reporting.
  • Keep a running database of weekly water pumping records from Cutter to report to SCAT and all parties involved per the SCAT agreement at the end of each year.
  • Keep all records for 125 Backflow Assemblies - including notification letters, permits, entering information int the system, coordination with testers for test reports and invoicing.
  • Complete the annual Consumer Confidence Report and mail to all customers.
  • Complete the annual San Carlos Apache Tribe water use report.
  • Complete AZ Department of Water Resources annual water use report.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Required QualificationsEducation and Experience:
  • High School diploma or GED, prefer associate's degree in accounting or related field.
  • Two-year's experience performing technical, administrative, and clerical work while balancing multiple duties and responsibilities.
  • Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of computers and electronic data processing
  • Working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures
  • Working knowledge of governmental utility billing principles and practices
  • Some knowledge of public works operations
  • Ability to perform arithmetic computations accurately and quickly
  • Ability to establish successful positive working relationships
  • Ability to work under pressure and/or frequent interruptions
  • Ability to work with angry or difficult customers
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational skills, time management skills.
  • Commitment to thoroughly self-review work product for accuracy when submitting compliance data and documentation
  • Proficient in written and verbal communication
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, and online collaboration platforms.
  • Experience coordinating virtual meetings (Zoom, Teams, etc.)
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively.
