Water and Sewer Maintenance Worker - North Carolina Staffing : Job Details

Inspect, maintain, and repair water distribution lines, valves, hydrants, and meters. Clean, inspect, and repair sewer mains, laterals, and manholes. Respond to emergency calls such as water main breaks, sewer backups, and service interruptions. Locate and mark water and sewer utilities prior to excavation (811 locates). Perform confined space entry, trenching, and traffic control in compliance with safety regulations. Keep detailed records of maintenance work and service calls. Assist with system upgrades and utility construction projects. Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies. Other duties as required.

Experience in utility or public works maintenance preferred. Proficiency in operating heavy equipment such as backhoes and tractors. Ability to effectively use power tools for various maintenance tasks. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential. A commitment to safety standards on the job site is required.

High school diploma or GED required. Valid drivers license. Experience in utility or public works maintenance preferred. Ability to operate a variety of tools and heavy equipment. Knowledge of OSHA and local safety regulations. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including after-hours and on-call shifts.
