Summary
Responsible for individual and team development and provides mentorship to Supervisors and Team Leaders. Ensures quality performance, cost parameters, and service to customers (internal and external). Responsible for training, coaching and leading a team of individuals with varying levels of experience and education who execute manufacturing, distribution, and/or operations processes. Collaborates cross-functionally to ensure successful production scheduling, inventory tracking, vendor information, and customer experience. Has broad influence on the organization both cross-shift and cross-functionally in helping to manage the business and drive improved performance.
Essential Functions

• Directly supervises and oversees the day-to-day operations of a group of employees to ensure a smooth workflow and that organizational production expectations are met.
• Develops team to solve own day-to-day operational issues and assists with troubleshooting when needed.
• Trains staff on how to properly use equipment and successfully execute work.
• Oversees the accurate and timely production, quality, and/or shipping of manufactured goods.
• Develops and modifies employee schedules and staffing plans to reduce labor costs while ensuring project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
• Guides the operations team in interpreting existing processes and policies, applies them to Team and individual objectives, and assists in the development of efficiencies or process improvements.
• Responsible for managing team member performance, training and development.
• Partners with HR to address employee performance issues and progressive discipline practices.
• Motivates employees and creates an environment where team members can ask questions and share concerns.
• Executes organizational directives; modifies individual and team goals to reflect such directives.
• Organizes and facilitates team meetings.
• Travels to company sites, and/or meeting locations up to 5% of the time.
• Transports employees to work related appointments/meetings as needed.
• Works cross-functionally to lead projects and initiatives, troubleshoot and solve problems.
• In partnership with Operations leadership, leads the Annual Skills training planning.
• Analyzes employee productivity, processes, workflow, and recommends actions to improve efficiency and cost.
• Leads the implementation of changes meant to improve the organization's financial performance and competitive positioning.
• Ensures a safe working environment and leads safety incident investigations; conducts root cause analysis, documents incidents, reports findings to leadership, and makes recommendations for corrective action and/or process changes.
• May perform lower-level operations essential functions when critically necessary, qualified and trained to do so.
• Leads the design of formal training programs and ensures the successful administration.
• Initiates and leads continuous improvement and lean projects and communicates project updates to team members as needed.
• Collects data on team/department performance, tracks progress against goals, and proposes adjustments to policies and procedures as needed.
• Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
• Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.
Supervisory Responsibilities
• Responsible for training and development of subordinate staff.
• Conducts performance evaluations; reviews and communicates salary adjustments; schedules and approves overtime; takes disciplinary action, as necessary; addresses complaints and resolves issues.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of Operations experience in Manufacturing, Logistics, Construction, Military, Agriculture, and/or leadership experience in a Customer Service environment reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 8 years of Operations experience in Manufacturing, Logistics, Military, Construction, Agriculture, and/or leadership experience in a customer service environment reflecting increasing levels of responsibility;
• 2 years of supervisory or managerial experience leading a team of direct reports with demonstrated team building, leadership and mentoring skills.
• Candidates for this position must have a valid driver's license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver's license or appropriate state driver's license within 30 days of hire.
• Skilled with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint at an intermediate level.
• Required to work an off-shift (swing or graveyard), when necessary.
• Required to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Experience using a Production Management System &/or Warehouse Management System.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of Operations experience in Manufacturing, Logistics, Military, Construction, and/or Agriculture experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
• Experience managing Quality standards in a manufacturing environment.
• Supervisory experience leading and developing high potential direct reports.
• Experience using technical skills to troubleshoot issues and understand requirements
• Experience applying LEAN methodology.
• Ability to foster teamwork.
Compensation
Hiring Salary Range: $83,200 - $104,000.
Actual compensation amount paid may be lower or higher to be determined by factors other than race and gender such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
