Manages all activities related to the Division's warehousing operations, ensuring that Division and Company objectives for efficiency, economy, quality and productivity are met or exceeded.
ResponsibilitiesPlans, implements and monitors the day-to-day operations for the Division's warehousing function, including analyzing operating data and reports, determining manpower needs and monitoring adherence to standards to ensure business plan objectives are met or exceeded. (25%)
Manages assigned staff, including involvement in the recruitment and selection process of new employees, assigning work, providing training and development, evaluating performance, and building a motivated, effective team to ensure that organizational goals for diversity, career development, productivity, performance management and employee involvement are met. (25%)
Periodically audits operational procedures and programs related to shipping and receiving and implements necessary improvements to achieve expectations for availability, storage, sanitation and security of inventory. (20%)
Develops, audits and controls department budget and ensures that operational costs are within plan. Manages the purchase and/or leasing and maintenance of all material handling equipment to achieve safety, longevity and efficiency objectives. (10%)
Ensures compliance with all customer, governmental and Company directives and policies and ensures the preparation and distribution of all relevant reports and quality analyses summaries. (10%)
Communicates with Division management and employees and provides relevant reports and analyses to ensure appropriate decision-making. Conducts analyses on special project assignments. (10%)
Performs other related and assigned duties as necessary.
Supervises, through subordinate management, approximately 50 to 70 employees, including hourly staff. Manages projects with significant financial and strategic impact. May manage various external vendors.
Manages performance categories including productivity/quality standards, inventory accuracy, inventory transactional compliance, cases per man hour, delivery reliability, budget, cost containment, teamwork within the department and across departments, project assignment standards, customer satisfaction, external relationships and compliance with regulatory agencies, employee development to meet GSF's projected near- and mid-term objectives, recruitment and retention of workforce to meet GSF's diversity objectives, safety of employees, safety of facility and warehouse equipment.
QualificationsEducation and experience equivalent to:
Bachelors' degree in business administration or related field from an accredited university or college or equivalent or a technical degree in a specific Warehousing Operation related field such as inventory and warehouse operations and control.
7 years of progressively responsible experience in warehousing operations involving multi-temperature environment with receiving, inventory control and shipping and 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience.
