DESCRIPTION
As Vice President of Media, you will lead the integrated media department across all office locations including media planning, traditional media buying, digital media buying and media reporting/analytics. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, problem solver and professional in all communications both inside the agency and with clients and vendors. They thrive on creating disruptive efforts in media, while balancing client business objectives and understanding how data/tech drive business.
This position is a member of the agency executive team and acts as an agency spokesperson. They provide direct supervision to Media Directors and others as needed. This position reports to the President & COO and is located in Mobile, AL, Reno or Las Vegas, NV.
Responsibilities:
- A self-starter with strong communication and presentation skills who thrives on developing client relationships and managing business to specific results.
- Work as a senior strategic partner to key agency clients, understanding their brand and media goals in order to exceed them. Must have ability to contribute at both strategic and tactical levels.
- Proven track record of building and maintaining client relationships.
- Proven experience managing media department profitability including knowledge of various pricing models (fee or commission) and partner revenue share agreements.
- Lead teams in setting strategies for developing effective omnichannel media plans.
- Collaborate with media team members to present and sell media plans to agency management, clients and new business prospects.
- Align entire media team to a reporting/analytics approach for the agency, ensuring that plans meet or exceed KPIs, attribution, foot traffic and conversion metrics.
- Champion a culture of collaboration, performance accountability and strategic experimentation.
- Participate in new business pitches, including written and in-person presentations.
- Attend and participate in regular agency executive team meetings to ensure media departments goals, needs and challenges are addressed.
- Stay informed on the evolving role of AI and automation and impacts on media planning and buying. Ensure media team approach aligns with agency tech stack and philosophy.
- Keep current on media trends, platform/tool integrations, industry benchmarks, etc.
- Assemble thought leadership POVs, proposals and reporting as needed.
- Act as an agency spokesperson and source of industry knowledge at conferences, client meetings and agency events as needed.
- Collaborate with Directors to produce annual state of media content for the agency.
- Hiring, on-boarding, and performance management of direct reports within the media team.
- Supervise, mentor and motivate media team members.
- Coach and train media team on strategic and tactical media planning and buying best practices and trends that may impact our client roster.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to hone and optimize agency process and procedures.
- Play an active role in conflict resolution. Identifies, manages, and resolves problems before they escalate.
Qualifications
- 15+ years experience in media planning or buying, with a diverse exposure across both traditional and digital channels
- 7+ years experience leading a team of at least 8 people or larger
- Experience working with clients in the gaming and hospitality industry required
- Skilled in decision making, organization and problem solving
- Ability to delegate, lead and motivate in a fast-paced work environment
- Strong understanding of media platforms including planning tools, DSPs, media automation, reporting and analytics and data visualization
- Experience with buying software, Strata/Freewheel
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including in-person and virtual presentations
- Travel as required for meetings at agency offices and client locations
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, business or a related field
