Have the gift of gab and want to put it to good use? Are you a great listener and love asking quesitons? Help relieve social isolation today by calling a homebound older adult today. Experience is not necessary but experience with mental health is a plus.

The Friendly Visiting program at Carter Burden Network matches homebound older adults with volunteers who weekly call an older adult and develop a friendship over the phone. We are looking for compassionate, patient, and committed volunteers.

An experienced Program Coordinator will match you based on availability, shared interests, and preferences. The volunteer opportunity works around your schedule. Long, deep friendships are often formed and turn into in person visits (with prior approval of coordinator).

Program requirements:

• Live in the the Tri-State Area (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut)

• Be at least 18 years old

• Volunteer for a minimum of 6 months

• Provide 2 non familial references

• Submit to a background check
