OVERVIEW:The Volunteer Coordinator is a full-time position with responsibilities for the development, implementation and oversight of agency program volunteer initiatives as well as representing the agency in agency and community events, presentations and media events. S/he is responsible for the recruitment, screening, and placement of volunteers. This position also helps coordinate special events, fundraisers, and donations. Periodically, this position requires evening or weekend hours for special events, presentations, etc.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:General:Prepares summary for inclusion in reports on agency volunteer participationManages and maintains and provide active community outreach for the agency food pantry The Nook , secures donations and manages inventoryManages in-kind donations that come into CFY, maintains the clothing donated, and distributes items to programs. Manages holiday gift drives and donations.Attends Board of Directors and Board Fund Development and Program Committee meetings and reports on volunteer participation.Performs other duties assigned by the Executive DirectorVolunteer Management:Provides ongoing assessment of agency program volunteer needsRecruits, screens, onboards and places volunteer applicantsDevelops all related recruitment, placement and training materialsEnsures required volunteer applicant paperwork is completedDocuments all activities and collects data on program volunteer hoursInternship Program: administers the agency Internship Program, which includes:acting as a liaison to college field instructorsproviding all necessary documentation/paperworkcoordinates the interview process/scheduling, correspondence, etc.Provides support for the Host Home Program: (in coordination with the Runaway/Homeless Youth Program Staff): Supports the administration of the Host Home Program, as needed, which may includeassurance of compliance with NYS Host Home regulations, certification and renewalsrecruitment, orientation, and trainingquality assessment and improvementsdata collection and submission of monthly, quarterly and annual reportsSupport the volunteers needed for the RHY programs including Crisis Nursery programs:Collaborate with and provide assistance to the program staff in recruitment, placement, and orientation/onboarding of volunteersSpecial Events:Assists with planning and executing special events, working closely with development teamResponsible for recruitment of volunteers as neededFashion Week Events: coordinating logistics such as set-up, clean-up, coordinating creation of swag bags, attending and assisting with all showsProvide leadership for the Center Gala and other special events in collaboration with Community Engagement teamActs as liaison with outside entities who want to host special events/fundraisers for CFYCommunity Outreach:Represents the agency in community events, does presentations for various groupsRepresents agency at various organization, conference, workshops, task forces, etc. specific to volunteers, professional development and job trainingCoordinates agency participation in school/college and community fairs; maintains informational materials (fair boxes)Assists with the procurement of donations i.e., Gifts-in-KindActs as liaison to community and corporate supporters who want to do donation drives and special fundraising or other events that support CFY programs. For example, UW Day of Caring. Fraternity/Sorority events, etc.Attend Healthy Baby Network and other community organizations meetingsEMPLOYMENT GUIDELINES:Candidates must be autonomously mobile; possess a youth positive attitude; understand asset development, service learning and social capital concepts; possess the ability to communicate well both orally and in writing; have knowledge of techniques and resources needed to recruit, train and maintain volunteers and be familiar with the youth service delivery systems. Must have access to a vehicle and possess a valid driver's license with a driving record acceptable to an agency insurance carrier. In addition, you must have the following automobile insurance: Bodily Injury $100,000/$300,000 and $50,000 Property Damage. Must be able to work a flexible schedule when needed.QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in human services or related area and 3 years of related experience; or A.A.S. in Human Services plus 3 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.CULTURAL COMPETENCY:The Center delivers programs and services to youth and families across Monroe County who represent many racial, cultural and geographic groups. The Center ensures understanding and values of differences in people of diverse cultures, ethnic origins, sexual orientations, disabilities and beliefs. All staff are required to attend cultural competency workshops and trainings and to continually enhance their own understanding of cultural diversity.
