Comunilife Inc is looking for a Vocational Counselor for its new program in the Bronx, El Borinquen. The Vocational Counselor will provide vocational services to clients living at El Borinquen, including assessing clients' education, work experience, and aptitude to formulate vocational/employment plans. They will assist with resume preparation, referrals for job training, and accompanying clients to field visits. This position is eligible for Comunilife's benefits and paid time off package.

Essential Duties

• Assess clients' ability and motivation for psycho-social rehabilitation (educational, vocational, and employment)
• Provide referrals to employment training and placement programs
• Offer supportive counseling and vocational services to clients and families
• Develop and review comprehensive service plans with vocational/employment goals
• Maintain contacts as specified in the service plans
• Implement weekly training programs for work/school preparation skills
• Assist with activities for daily living, employment assessments, training, and private sector placement services, including resume writing and interview preparation
• Link clients to community educational and vocational programs
• Participate in case conferences, training, and team meetings
• Complete and document assessments, plans, and progress notes timely

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Education, or related field
• At least two years of experience in vocational, employment, or educational counseling, especially with HIV+/AIDS affected populations and/or individuals with substance abuse issues
• Experience with Scattered Sites Programs is preferred
• Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred
