However, this is a float position, and you may be asked to travel to the clinic to provide coverage. A county vehicle is available for travel upon request. Pinal County does not participate in STEM Optional Practical Training (STEM OPT). JOB SUMMARY Provide customer service for Public Health Services Department clients, assist with Vital Records requests and perform duties in compliance with state and Federal regulations, as well as County policies and procedures under basic supervision. TYPICAL CLASSIFICATION ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Verify accuracy and completeness of all death certificates for quality assurance.
- Issue certified copies of death certificates when request is made in office or through mail.
- Assist in registering deaths for Pinal County with the State of Arizona.
- Enter all data for death certificates into Sate Vital Records Software (VSIMS) and work directly with Medical Examiner's office to obtain and distribute cremation and burial permits for families and funeral homes in a timely manner.
- Assist families with any concerns or questions and assist physician and certifiers with entering most accurate cause of death for decedent.
- Verify accuracy and completeness of all Pinal County home births and accuracy of all information in EBRS when person is requesting a certified copy of birth record.
- Issue certified copies of birth certificates on a daily basis for both mail and in person requests submitted to office.
- Assist clients with completing applications.
- Verify and process Acknowledgement of Paternity paperwork and submit to supervisor for approval.
- Correct any information in the database as needed when given Hospital correction letter or Affidavit to Correct or Amend from eligible persons.
- Process any amendments to birth certificates when supplied with a certified and signed court order from Superior County Courts.
- Work directly with birth registry at hospitals or birthing center midwives when needed.
- Collect and deposit fees from both birth and death certificates daily.
- Reconcile certified state paper on a daily basis.
- Assist with Environmental Health invoicing monthly and keeping past due invoice spreadsheet up to date.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted County information.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- One (1) year of customer service experience.
- Valid Arizona State Driver's License.
- Notary Public certification required within 60 days of hire.
- Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may substitute for the minimum requirements.
Supplemental Information Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to interpret statutes, rules and policies that apply to the Office of Vital Records.
- Ability to stay abreast of constant changes in society laws and policies as they apply to Vital Registration.
- Ability to use courtesy and respect in providing client services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is sedentary requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
