Visiting Assistant Professor, Anthropology, College of Arts and Sciences

We are seeking a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology, starting August 15, 2025. The role involves teaching bioanthropology and archaeology courses, mentoring students, and contributing to NAGPRA consultation and documentation efforts. Candidates with experience in NAGPRA compliance, project management, and tribal/community engagement are preferred. This is a 12-month position with renewal potential for a second year.

Essential Functions

The successful candidate will teach four courses annually, including a large introductory bioanthropology class and other courses as determined in consultation. They will also manage NAGPRA-related activities, including consultation, documentation, and repatriation efforts throughout the year.

Required Education

A Ph.D. in Anthropology or related fields is preferred, with ABD candidates considered.
