Job Description :

Kelly Government Solutions is seeking a Virologist (Influenza Vaccine Development) to work on-site with the Vaccine Immunology Program at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)/National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, MD.

This is a long-term contract position which offers:

KEY TASKS

(1) Provide subject matter expertise and technical assistance for influenza vaccine design and development projects

(2) Produce, rescue and propagate recombinant viruses using cell lines.

(3) Perform neutralization assays and hemagglutinin inhibition assays with viruses.

(4) Culture and maintain cell lines.

(5) Organize and maintain sample inventories.

(6) Conduct research including planning and conducting experiments and data analysis.

(7) Locate and review literature pertinent to projects and identify/modify the most applicable protocols and methods for experiments.

(8) Develop methods, collect, organize and record experimental data suitable for publication.

(9) Troubleshoot assays and adjust scientific methodology to correct problems or deficiencies in a research project, experiment, or trial.

(10) Maintain accurate laboratory records to ensure proper retention of scientific data.

(11) Collaborate with automation experts to streamline high throughput influenza analyses.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

(1) Master's or Ph.D. degree in Virology, Immunology, or a related field.

(2) Minimum of two years of experience in virology or a related field.

(3) Experience working in a laboratory environment that includes virus production and rescue as well as neutralization assays.

(4) Experience working with influenza viruses and related vaccine design/development preferred.

(5) Position requires wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in a BSL-2 laboratory.
