The National Inventors Hall of Fame is seeking a video director to lead the creative visual storytelling of our world-changing Inductees. In this role, you will serve as a front-facing, positive, and enthusiastic representative of NIHF, creating in-depth mini-documentaries that illuminate the dramatic lives of inventors while aligning with the strategic objectives of NIHF, our partners, and the Inductees themselves.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Develop and conceptualize video projects in alignment with the overall vision and objectives of the video production manager.
- Lead creative brief development, scriptwriting, and collaborate on pre-production planning.
- Coordinate and manage on-set activities, ensuring team alignment with project goals.
- Direct performances and provide constructive feedback to subjects and talent.
- Guide videographers, camera operators, and lighting technicians to ensure high-quality footage.
- Collaborate with the production team on location selection, set design, and logistics planning.
- Ensure all content aligns with branding guidelines and messaging strategies.
- Work with editors, providing feedback for revisions.
- Manage post-production processes including sound, effects, and color grading.
- Stay updated on industry trends and new technologies.
- Lead multiple complex video projects from pre- to post-production.
- Must be able to direct, operate cameras, and edit.
- Proficiency with industry-standard camera equipment and technologies.
- Exhibit excellent leadership and project management skills.
- Maintain enthusiasm, positivity, and strong communication skills.
- Apply creative problem-solving and remain calm under pressure.
- Possess excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Have a keen eye for detail and aesthetic sense.

- Balance the needs of Inductees, partners, and departments during shoots.
- Meet with the Executive Team for review of creative briefs and edits.
- Willingness to work long hours and handle tight deadlines.
- Willing to travel within the U.S. 12-16 times per year.
Credentials and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Film Production, Fine Arts, or related field.
- At least 5 years experience as a Director in a production house, corporate team, or related setting.
- Experience directing documentaries or bio-pictures preferred.
- Ability to earn trust and confidence of subjects/talent.
- Experience in writing, developing, and pitching creative concepts.
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.
- Skilled in DaVinci Color Grading.
- Experienced with Sony Burano, Sony FX6, Blackmagic Ursa cameras.
- Steadicam operation skills are a plus.
- Experience directing marketing and brand commercials is preferred.
- Strong portfolio of successful video projects.
