Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team responsible for providing a variety of victim and witness assistance functions. Typical work assignments will include:

Requirements
  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication, including fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment depends on a favorable background investigation.
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
Qualifications

GS-09: To be eligible at the GS-09 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, OR a combination of Education and Experience.

Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level, involving duties such as advocating on behalf of crime victims, providing information about case status and trial results, supporting victims in court, and obtaining services and assistance for victims.

Education: A Master's or equivalent graduate degree in a related field (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Victimology, Criminal Justice, Political Science); OR two years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR an LL.B. or J.D., if related. Education must be from an accredited institution and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities relevant to the position.

Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of graduate education and experience may be used to meet the requirements. Graduate education must be in excess of one year.

Additional Programs

  • ICTAP: Provides eligible displaced Federal employees with selection priority. To qualify, you must be well-qualified (score 85+), apply correctly, and provide proof of eligibility.
  • CTAP: Offers similar priority for eligible surplus or displaced DOJ employees, with similar conditions to ICTAP.
