The United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida's (USAO-SDFL) mission is to enforce and defend the laws of the United States through prosecuting criminal cases, defending civil cases involving the U.S., and collecting debts owed to the Federal government.
DutiesIf selected, you will join a respected team providing Victim Assistance Specialist support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, Southern District of Florida, based in Fort Lauderdale and Miami. The focus will be on victim and witness assistance, collaboration, and community outreach. Responsibilities will grow with your training and experience. Typical assignments include:
RequirementsMinimum Qualifications: Demonstrate the required specialized experience and/or education for the grade level applied for.
GS-09 level: One year of specialized experience at GS-07 level or higher, including providing resource referral counseling to victims, identifying available resources, and collaborating with law enforcement and social service providers. Alternatively, two years of graduate education leading to a master's degree or a related degree, or a combination of experience and education.
GS-11 level: One year of specialized experience at GS-09 level, including assessing and providing resource counseling, assisting with documentation and funding applications, and conducting workshops and meetings. Alternatively, a Ph.D. or three years of graduate education leading to such a degree, or a related LL.M., or a combination of experience and education. Education must demonstrate the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
