Overview

The Vice President of Operations (Day, Employment and Education) is instrumental in leading a high-quality, person-centered approach to service delivery. They provide leadership and oversight to day and employment services, child care services, and our educational arm as we fulfill our customer-winning proposition and meet our mission. This role acts as an ambassador towards our vision of elevating the experience of the caring professional and supports the mission, vision, and values of Heritage Christian Services, Inc.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate a philosophy within service delivery that supports self-direction, community participation, productivity, full citizenship, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Inspire, reinforce, and drive the continuous development of a person-centered and quality-focused culture reflective of the agency's mission, vision, and values.
  • Provide direction and leadership to service teams to foster high-quality, person-centered services that comply with agency policies, regulations, and state and federal law.
  • Contribute to the organization's strategic planning process, goals, and project work. Communicate with team members to foster alignment around a shared vision and serve as an ambassador for our project work.
  • Understand current best practices in service delivery and create an environment for innovation and creativity.
  • Challenge the status quo in service options and work to develop broader, yet customized options of support for people who choose our service.
  • Assist teams in managing financial resources, operational budgets, and capital purchases.
  • Ensure collaborative work between persons choosing our services, families, day services team, clinical team, and other department leaders to achieve outstanding results.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of issues surrounding access, equity, diversity, inclusion, implicit bias, and institutional racism.
  • Engage in meaningful and collaborative relationships with other agency leaders, specifically collaborating with the Director of Learning and Professional Development.
  • Maintain strong relationships with external partners such as OPWDD, Access VR, and Cornell University.
  • Plan and direct proactive, data-driven continuous improvement plans to improve overall quality of services and care provided to persons supported by the agency.
  • Partner to create, implement, and report on various operational plans and functions in collaboration with Business Intelligence and Analytics.
  • Champion our Compass process by analyzing incident and compass data and trends to identify performance initiatives that advance quality outcomes.
  • Promote excellence through effective training, coaching, and performance reviews of direct reports.
  • Champion a continuous learning philosophy both individually and organizationally.
  • Lead and provide oversight to Expressive Beginnings, our child care programs, ensuring familiarity with best practices in the industry.
  • Work alongside external partners who align in mission to improve the experience of the caring professional.
  • Collaborate with all leaders and staff members to ensure a person-centered culture that inspires possibility.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred in education, human services, or related field.
  • 5 or more years of experience working in long-term care, child care, and/or with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Knowledge of OPWDD and OCFS strategies, regulations, and compliance standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a high level of emotional competence.
  • Ability to establish and build effective working relationships with colleagues, staff, customers, and key stakeholders.
  • Acceptance of a variety of lifestyles, behaviors, and cultural and spiritual practices.
  • Must demonstrate excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with data systems and data analysis in support of continuous process improvement preferred.
  • A valid NYS driver's license that complies with agency standards.
