Vice President of Finance and Operations Position Overview

The Vice President of Finance and Operations will report directly to the CEO and oversee all financial, accounting, and administrative functions. This leader will be instrumental in building infrastructure, improving systems, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate is hands-on, strategic, and thrives in a startup setting where autonomy and precision matter.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all finance, accounting, budgeting, and reporting activities
• Supervise vendors for bookkeeping, tax compliance, R&D credits, and insurance
• Develop and maintain systems using QuickBooks, Gusto, Bill.com, Carta, Brex, and DataSite
• Support fundraising through pitch deck development and financial modeling
• Manage cash flow, AP/AR, and vendor relationships
• Oversee HR operations in coordination with external consultants
• Ensure compliance with FAR and other government contract standards
• Drive business process improvements and operational efficiency

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in finance, accounting, and operational leadership
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and ERP implementation
• Experience with government contracting and FAR compliance strongly required
• Ability to work independently, implement systems, and lead through influence
• Exceptional communication skills across technical and executive audiences
• Preferred: CPA, CMA, MBA; experience in aerospace, defense, or startup environments
