Vice President of Finance and Infrastructure

Boothbay, ME

We are working with our client Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens to seek a Vice President of Finance and Infrastructure, based in Boothbay, Maine.

Requirements of the Vice President of Finance and Infrastructure:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree or CPA strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in finance and facilities management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven track record managing large-scale capital construction projects, ideally in a public or non-profit environment.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, investment, and asset management; knowledge of risk management, security protocols, and IT systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead departmental leaders, drive strategic initiatives, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Passion for conservation, sustainability, and the role of botanical gardens in inspiring connections with nature.
  • Commitment to integrating Equity, Diversity, and Accessibility principles into the Gardens' operations and community relationships.
  • Ability to commute to Boothbay, ME Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities of the Vice President of Finance and Infrastructure:

  • Analyze and evaluate the organization's financial performance, providing regular reports to the CEO/President and suggesting strategic opportunities for revenue growth and expense reduction.
  • Oversee the organization's $12 million annual budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and transparency.
  • Manage investment strategies to optimize returns and balance risk.
  • Oversee insurance policies in collaboration with HR.
  • Manage facility operations, including maintenance, landscaping, and infrastructure, ensuring safety and quality.
  • Implement sustainable practices and green technologies to minimize environmental impact.
  • Lead Master Plan and capital projects, coordinating with stakeholders for on-time, on-budget completion.
  • Oversee security protocols for all facilities.
  • Manage IT systems to support operations, security, and growth, leveraging technology for efficiency and enhanced visitor experience.
  • Hire, supervise, motivate, and evaluate staff, promoting a culture of teamwork, integrity, and respect.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with staff, board, partners, and stakeholders.
