Job Description :

Responsible for managing all activities related to electric system planning, system engineering, system operations, power quality, emergency response, and compliance with governmental agencies.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide project management for the design of electric distribution facilities in the construction work plan and other system construction projects.
  • Participate as a member of the Cooperatives Executive Team, serving, as necessary, on internal or external special committees, task forces, and panels. Work as a member of a team in a leadership role on special projects, initiatives, and committees.
  • Maintain ongoing communications with President/CEO and Executive Team to ensure they are informed of all relevant activities, events, and issues.
  • Assure that construction meets or exceeds the National Electrical Safety Code and RUS guidelines.
  • Prepare timely Construction Work Plans, Power Requirement Studies, Long Range Plans, and other required and recommended plans for the development of the power system in cooperation with the Engineering Department.
  • Implements long-term and short-term planning for the design, staking, right-of-way acquisition and material procurement of the construction work plan projects. This includes the preparation and updating of an ongoing schedule that identifies the status of all projects.
  • Monitors the design and construction of electrical facilities in the Construction Work Plan.
  • Supervises the preparation of work orders, staking sheets, permits, and required documentation.
  • If needed, collaborate with the Staking Supervisor to supervise the design and field staking of electrical facilities construction.
  • Monitor daily outage reports. Provide feedback to dispatch for any outage information that is missing or in need of clarification. Refer to any outages that need addressing to staking or the Senior Distribution Engineer as appropriate.
  • Review net metering application submissions. Keep track of the members participating in net metering and the amount of generation from each member. Report the data to JEC and EKPC personnel as requested.
  • Assist Staking Engineers with transformer and service wire sizing as needed.
  • Annually calculate the RUS and PSC outage indices for the previous year. Provide RUS outage indices to Accounting and E&O Administrative Assistant by January 31. Compile the annual PSC reliability report and submit it to the KY PSC prior to May 1 st .

Education

Required: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

Experience

Required: A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible engineering roles in a distribution electric utility.

Preferred : Previous experience with RUS specifications, construction, and electric cooperative industry.

License, Special Training, and Certifications

Must have a Professional Engineer License or obtain within 3 years.
