Job Title: Vice President, Construction Operations

Reports To: President/COO

Location: Tampa, FL

Travel: 75% regional travel to Southeast offices as well as local client and construction sites

Compensation: $200-250k base salary plus performance-based bonus

Must Have: Certified General Contractor in the State of Florida

Primary Role:

The Vice President of Regional Construction Operations is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational performance, business development, and financial health of all construction projects and teams within their assigned region. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while fostering client relationships and promoting company culture and values.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Regional Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement the regional business plan in alignment with the company's overall strategic goals.
  • Identify market trends, risks, and opportunities for growth and expansion.
  • Lead regional forecasting, budgeting, and resource planning.
  • Represent the region in executive leadership meetings and contribute to company-wide decision-making.

2. Operational Oversight

  • Oversee the execution of all construction operations in the region, including preconstruction, project execution, closeout, and warranty.
  • Drive consistency and excellence in project delivery, cost control, safety, scheduling, and quality assurance.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across all active projects.
  • Lead problem-solving and escalation management for complex or at-risk projects.
  • Manage the regional P&L (Profit & Loss) with full accountability for revenue, margins, and cash flow.
  • Ensure financial targets are met or exceeded.
  • Approve major project budgets and capital expenditures.

4. Business Development & Client Relations

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key clients, partners, developers, architects, and public agencies.
  • Collaborate with the business development team to secure new work and retain existing clients.
  • Participate in major project proposals, interviews, and negotiations.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing teams, including project executives, superintendents, and preconstruction leaders.
  • Provide mentorship, performance evaluations, and career path development for direct reports.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Ensure regional compliance with corporate policies, legal regulations, safety standards, and ethical guidelines.
  • Review and mitigate contract, financial, and operational risks.
  • Participate in incident reviews and corrective action planning.

  • Safety incident rate (TRIR/EMR)

  • Market share and new project acquisition

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or related field preferred
  • 15+ years of experience in the construction industry, with at least 5 years in senior project management or executive leadership
  • Must have Certified General Contractor in the State of Florida
  • Proven experience managing large-scale projects from $3.5-75M and leading multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong business acumen and financial management skills
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation abilities
