KDG Construction Consulting is seeking a
Vice President of Business Development – Utilities, whowill lead strategic growth initiatives in the utility sector, with a focus on identifying, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities. This role requires a seasoned leader with deep industry knowledge, a strong network, and proven expertise in cultivating long-term client relationships within electric, gas, water, and renewable energy markets. The VP will develop and execute strategies to expand market presence, drive revenue growth, and position the company as a trusted partner to utility providers and related stakeholders.
Duties & Responsibilities:Strategic Leadership- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy for the utilities sector aligned with corporate goals.
- Identify and evaluate new market opportunities, strategic partnerships, and acquisition prospects.
- Collaborate with the executive team to shape long-term growth objectives.
Market Development & Sales- Build and maintain strong relationships with utility companies, regulators, technology partners, and industry influencers.
- Lead the proposal and bid process for large-scale contracts, ensuring competitive and compliant submissions.
- Oversee negotiations, contract terms, and partnership agreements.
Industry Expertise- Stay informed on regulatory changes, market trends, and emerging technologies impacting the utilities sector.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, forums, and networking events.
- Provide thought leadership and insights to position the company as an industry leader.
Team Leadership & Development- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing business development team.
- Set performance targets, monitor KPIs, and ensure accountability.
- Foster a collaborative, innovative, and results-driven culture.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10–15 years of experience in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships within the utilities or energy sector.
- Proven track record of securing multi-million-dollar contracts and expanding market share.
- Strong understanding of utility operations, regulatory frameworks, and emerging energy technologies.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to travel as needed to meet with clients, attend events, and oversee projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary, along with an ability to be self-directed and adaptable.
- Ability to pursue multiple opportunities simultaneously.
Anticipated Salary Range:$180,000 - $215,000The offered salary will be based on the applicant's qualifications, education, experience, and work location.
