VICE PRESIDENT, FINANCIAL OPERATIONS

SOUTH GEORGIA MEDICAL CENTER

VALDOSTA, GA

HARTZ Search invites you to explore an exciting opportunity with our client, South Georgia Medical Center (SGMC), for the position of Vice President, Financial Operations. The Vice President will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and oversee the financial reporting functions of the enterprise, including:

  • General Accounting
  • Accounts Payable
  • Payroll
  • Project Accounting
  • Alliance Accounting
  • Foundation Accounting
  • Fixed Asset Accounting
  • This role manages banking relationships, cash flow, and ensures accurate financial statements across all entities. Responsibilities include leading audits, overseeing tax reporting, developing financial reports with variance analysis, and supporting strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership in recruiting, training, and mentoring finance staff, and collaborate effectively with budgeting and decision support teams.

    SGMC Health is a not-for-profit medical system committed to improving community health, with 418 licensed beds, over 600 providers, and 2,900 employees across its campuses and affiliates in Valdosta, Georgia, serving a 15-county area of 400,000 residents.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
    • Master's degree and/or CPA preferred
    • At least seven years of healthcare finance experience
    • Minimum two years of supervisory or managerial experience
    • Experience preparing, reviewing, and presenting consolidated multi-entity financial statements
    • Experience delivering presentations to executive leadership and boards
    • Experience with third-party reimbursements, Medicare and Medicaid cost reports, and settlement reserves (highly desirable)
    • Strong written communication skills for reports, correspondence, and manuals
    • Ability to effectively respond to inquiries from employees, patients, and the public
    • Graduate Medical Education experience (desirable)
    • Experience with capital market transactions
