Veterinary Technician Assistant - The Animal Hospital : Job Details

Veterinary Technician Assistant Location: Adana Veterinary Clinic, Freeville, NY, 13068 Adana Veterinary Clinic is seeking a full-time Veterinary Technician Assistant to join our team. (32-38 hours/week) Candidates must have a minimum of 2 yrs. recent clinic experience as a veterinary assistant. This position requires Wednesday evening availability until 8pm and possible brief weekend boarding shifts. We have a small but amazing veterinary team and a beautiful, modern facility. We have provided excellent patient care for cats, dogs, and furry exotics for over 21 years. We are a Certified Feline Friendly practice and especially welcome applicants who love working with cats. • Assist veterinary technicians and doctors with their daily work
• Welcome clients, gather patient history for exams, communicate doctor instructions, lab test results, and medication information to pet owners
• Provide safe animal restraint during examinations, treatments, blood draws, and surgical procedures
• Care for any hospitalized patients and any cats or small animals staying at the clinic in boarding
• Utilize our computer system to enter data and exam findings into patient medical records. A minimum typing speed of 55-60WPM is required
• Preparation and dispensing of medications, performing patient lab tests
• Excellent customer care; including communicating with pet parents in person, on the phone, by email or text in a polite and professional manner
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including cleaning and disinfection of exam rooms, recovery cages, and other additional light cleaning duties

Requirements:

• 2 yrs. previous experience as a veterinary technician assistant
• Proficient in animal handling techniques
• Computer savvy with knowledge of basic software programs
• Strong compassion for animals and their well-being
• Excellent communication skills
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Knowledge of medical terminology and preventative care is a plus!

Compensation: $18-$20; pay is commensurate with experience. Additionally, you will be eligible for our revenue share bonus program.
