JOB SUMMARY
The Veterinary Health Manager (VHM) oversees a team of support staff providing animal care at Pasadena Humane. The VHM supports activities related to animal health in the Veterinary Health Department, including wildlife and domestic animal care, rehabilitation, low-cost primary pet care services, and community resource sharing through the wildlife helpline. The position involves providing emergency services and ensuring delivery of essential operations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The VHM reports to the Senior Director of Animal Care, with secondary reporting to the Directors of Wildlife Education and Shelter Medicine. The VHM supervises all health department staff, including technicians and coordinators across various areas such as husbandry, shelter medicine, behavior, or surgery.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree required; relevant work experience may be considered equivalent.
- CVPM preferred.
- Certifications such as IAABC, CWR, RVT, or VTS preferred.
- Certified euthanasia training preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years in veterinary medicine, animal science, ecology, or related fields preferred.
- At least three (3) years in a management role involving staff development and training.

- Regular attendance, punctuality, ability to follow directions, and professionalism.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory record.
