Enterprise Vendor Manager

The Enterprise Vendor Manager (EVM) is responsible for facilitating, managing, and monitoring activities for strategic vendors that are critical to CareFirst operations. The EVM collaborates with the business units receiving services from such vendors and supports the overall health, relationship, issues, and strategic direction of the relationship. As the Manager, you will be directly supporting the implementation of the Vendor Management Office (VMO) in alignment with the strategic objectives of the organization. The ideal candidate must understand contractual, commercial, and operational working relationships with our vendors to ensure effective delivery of committed products, services, and solutions.

Essential Functions:

  • Vendor Performance Management:
  • Manage strategic vendor relationship and performance through metrics, KPIs, risk indicators, and SLAs.
  • Assist in building the measurement and reporting structure for vendor management (inclusive of survey, scorecard, improvement plan, and dashboard creation).
  • Support data collection, consolidation, and communication of performance outputs on vendors.
  • Advise, facilitate, and manage business reviews (operational/executive oversight meetings).
  • Support issue management from identification through remediation activities.
  • Provide training to internal staff members who are responsible for executing vendor management activities.
  • Planning & Due Diligence:
  • Support VMO in establishing internal procedures, processes, and reference materials as part of vendor management orientation across enterprise.
  • Manage and communicate relevant information regarding strategic vendor profiles across CareFirst.
  • Support risk/contract negotiation and onboarding activities for strategic vendors.
  • Contribute to the timely completion of vendor risk assessments in cooperation with Cybersecurity and risk teams.
  • Provide support and oversight to vendor audits where required.
  • Contracting:
  • Assist procurement in driving cost-effective negotiations with vendors while ensuring compliance of negotiated contract terms (e.g., service levels, deliverables).
  • Direct involvement with renewals for strategic vendors, including the addition of any necessary contractual elements.
  • Strategy & Segmentation:
  • Consult with Business Units to develop innovative strategies, drive value gains across service offerings, and identify areas for continuous improvement.
  • Support sourcing strategies and provide market/industry insights on existing or prospective vendors.
  • Assist in segmentation, tiering, and rationalization of vendor portfolio.
  • Vendor Termination/Renewal:
  • Consult with Business Units, Procurement, and Cybersecurity to generate target positions on certain commercial terms & conditions.
  • Support VMO in overseeing the creation and maintenance of a repository of contract commitments to track key milestones (expirations, renewals).
  • Make decisions alongside Business Units to determine termination of strategic vendor contracts while ensuring no impact across CareFirst.

Qualifications:

  • Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.
  • Experience: + 5 years procurement/vendor management experience.
  • 1 year supervisory or demonstrated progressive leadership experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Work experience in vendor management, (preferably) with both large and small, high growth companies.
  • Proficient with MS Product Suite (MS Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, PowerBI).
  • Experience with benchmarking and deriving insights from structured data sets.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to influence.
  • Strong problem-solving ability with a focus on managing to business outcomes through collaboration with multiple internal and external parties.
  • Advanced knowledge of third-party risk management.
  • Thorough understanding of commercial terms (warranties, intellectual property, indemnification) in contracts.

Salary Range: $100,160 - $185,922
