The Role
In alignment with the agency's mission and goal of providing high-quality care and service, the Utilization Manager assists CASAC Counselors and supervisory staff to ensure compliance with external and internal utilization review, quality, and appropriateness standards.
Responsibilities
What You Will Do
- Conduct timely scheduled utilization reviews for Residential Services sites.
- Perform comprehensive quality and appropriateness reviews on a representative sample of treatment records for residential sites.
- Attend monthly and other required UR Committee meetings, prepare accurate minutes and reports, and participate in the agency's Quality Improvement / Utilization Management Committee.
- Provide supervisory support to CASAC Counselors and Peer Workers as needed, under guidance from management/leadership.
- Monitor and evaluate ongoing audits of charts.
- Provide direct care services to clients as needed.
- Assist with maintaining the agency's OASAS accreditation, including standards review and conformance auditing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Who You Will Be
- OASAS CASAC Certification with a Bachelor's Degree, or
- Other QHP credentials such as LMSW, LMHC, LMSW-LP, or MHC-LP with a Master's Degree.
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Services.
- AND
- OASAS CASAC certification, or
- Master's Degree in Social Work or a related field, along with other QHP credentials.
- At least one (1) year of clinical or quality assurance experience in behavioral healthcare or human services, or demonstrated clinical experience in substance use or mental health treatment.
- In-depth knowledge of HIPAA, OASAS, and 42 CFR regulations.
- Working knowledge of quality assurance and utilization review systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Experience working with diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Strong written, interpersonal, verbal, and computational skills for documentation and communication.
- Ability to work independently.
