JOB TITLE: Utility Technician JOB GRADE: NE11FLSA STATUS: Nonexempt DEPARTMENT NAME: MaintenanceDEPARTMENT NUMBER: MAINTENANCE REPORTS TO: Supervisor____________________________________________________________________________________POSITION SUMMARYA Utility Technician is a job classification for a Maintenance member who assists Maintenance Technicians but is not required to have the same skills set due to the nature of the jobs they are assigned or expected to perform. The Utility Technician job includes, but is not limited to, machine lubrication, filter replacements, HVAC coil cleaning, G5S duties / assignments, pulling / organizing spare parts by performance of the following duties.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (The section is not intended to be an all-inclusive list and NGK Ceramics reserves the right to include other duties as assigned):* Know and understand the types and storage location of all types of lubricates utilized at the NGK ACU facility. This includes hydraulic fluids and related materials. Be able to take a PM task sheet and select, transport and apply appropriate lubricant to the device(s) specified. Also, must be able to handle used lubricants in a manner consistent with the NGK EMS policy and associated requirements.* Change filters on various mediums, dust collection systems, HVAC systems, water systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Set-up and operate the hydraulic filtration units based on PM requirements. Search electronic applications for type and storage location of all type filtration devices.* Perform coil cleaning and fin straightening on all type HVAC systems.* Routinely perform G5S assignments of sort, shine and set in order. G5S activities will include label preparation and application as instructed or directed.* Utilize Epicor CMS ERP to located and pull parts required for PM / MMOL activities. Organize and stage spares to facilitate use by Maintenance Technicians during these activities.* At times jobs will be to act as a runner to locate and bring spare parts to a piece of equipment that is experiencing downtime.* Other jobs as deemed appropriate may be assigned by the Supervisor or Maintenance Manager.* Participates in PM (Preventive Maintenance), MMOL (Machine Maintenance Operator Leader), and G5S (Global 5S: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain), and Kaizen activities, as needed* Follows all EMS (Environmental Management System) procedures, including the disposal of waste and used materials* Assist and back up boiler operations including the use of chemicals.This job has no supervisory responsibilities and no direct reports.III. TeamworkREQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSRequired Education and/or Experience* Must be able to successfully complete all required job training.* High school diploma or general education degree (GED).* Current HVAC Licensed (Preferred).* Required Language Skills* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.* Required Mathematical Skills* Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.* Required Reasoning Ability* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.* Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formPreferred Qualifications* Forklift License and Pallet Jack License.* Extensive background checks may be required.* Knowledge of database software; inventory software; manufacturing software; spreadsheet software; and word processing software* HVAC electrical experience with relays, contactors, and starters.PHYSICAL DEMANDS (The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. SAFETY REQUIREMENTS/PPE* Compliance with PPE requirements for the area and the job duty as required.* EH approved composite safety shoes/boots must be worn while on NGK property.* Hearing protection may be required in designated areas.* Respirators, half mask cartridge respirators plus goggles, or full face cartridge respirators may be required in designated areas or under prescribed work conditions.* Safety glasses, safety googles and/or face shield may be required while performing certain job duties.* Chemical resistant suits, PVC aprons and/or chemical resistant boot covers may be required while performing certain job duties.* Regularly scheduled testing may be performed for: lung capacity (i.e. spirometry test), vision, hearing, and respirator fit.* VIII.
