Performs inspection, maintenance, and/or restoration of utility infrastructure. Responsible for the direct supervision of field crews while planning, organizing, and coordinating daily field operations for various job types. Must be at least 21 years of age. Responsibilities include performing work according to standard work practices, maintaining good customer and public relations, hiring, training, motivating, and supervising a crew of up to ten employees, managing daily work and crew to meet safety, quality, production, expense control, and crew management goals, operating vehicles to transport material, equipment, and crew to and from job site, collecting, recording, and submitting accurate, complete, and timely data related to timekeeping, payroll, and work performed, promoting and enforcing safety, properly maintaining all vehicles, equipment, and tools used by the crew, maintaining adequate inventory of equipment, tools, materials, and supplies, and enforcing and complying with all company and/or customer-required policies and procedures.

Education and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); possess some specialized training or at least three months of related work experience. Must successfully complete all aspects of a three to eight week Foreman Training Program, covering administration, crew management, pesticide application, safety, and driver qualification.
Certificates, Licenses, and/or RegistrationsMust possess a valid state driver's license with no DUI/DWI convictions within the previous five years. This period may be reduced to two years if the applicant provides evidence of completing a state-certified rehabilitation course provided, there are no additional moving violations in this two-year period. Ability to maintain First Aid and CPR certifications (e.g., American Heart Associate, Red Cross). May be required to obtain (or work under) a state pesticide applicator license. May be required to obtain and pass a DOT medical exam.
Technical SkillsAbility to effectively communicate using e-mail, read and follow maps, understand and follow complex procedures and specifications, and utilize a handheld data collection device (e.g., tablet or handheld computer). Must have strong computer skills and the technical aptitude to learn Osmose software applications. Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.
Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. They must have full range of mobility in upper and lower body. The employee is frequently required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk; hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee may routinely handle and/or apply preservatives, coatings, and/or other chemical substances. The position regularly works in outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, cold and freezing temperatures, and exposure to poisonous plants, insects, and allergens. The employee may also be exposed to energized electrical equipment and will be required to take appropriate precautions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with short periods of loud noise exceeding 85 decibels.
TravelVaries by customer and/or location, and can include frequent Monday through Friday overnight travel throughout one or more states. Extended work weeks and overtime hours are probable during peak work periods or for specific jobs. Must maintain consistent attendance record and be available for work Monday through Saturday.
