Responsibilities
- Independently design and execute experiments to optimize upstream manufacturing processes for viral vector production.
- Perform statistical analysis of experimental data to identify trends and support process improvements.
- Develop and apply empirical or theoretical models to predict process performance and enhance process understanding.
- Evaluate, test, and implement innovative upstream technologies.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with downstream process development, analytical development, and research teams to ensure high product quality and seamless process integration.
- Provide technical support for the successful transfer of processes to contract manufacturing organizations.
- Conduct routine cell culture operations, including bioreactor setup, probe calibration, maintenance, and cell culture passaging.
- Manage experimental data, maintain accurate records using electronic notebooks, and generate comprehensive reports.
- Perform sample analysis using various laboratory analytical tools.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment by sharing knowledge and supporting team goals.
Qualifications
- PhD in Science, Engineering, or a related field with 2-5 years of experience; or MS with 5-8 years of experience.
- Experienced with mammalian cell culture, bioreactors, AAV production, and upstream process development.
- Knowledge of empirical or theoretical modeling, including machine learning or statistical methods.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication, organizational, and collaboration abilities.
- Flexibility to work occasional weekends (for active cell culture).
- Familiarity with transient transfections, AAV, automation, and technology transfer is preferred.
