Job Description

We're looking for a motivated individual with a background in biology, biochemistry, or a related field to join our lab team. In this role, you'll work hands-on with cell cultures and protein expression to support meaningful scientific work. Ideal for someone with strong lab skills who's eager to grow in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform large-scale (up to 10 L) expression of recombinant proteins and virus-like particles (VLPs) by transient transfection of suspension mammalian cells across multiple expression systems, including shake flask and WAVE bioreactor technology
  • Work closely with other scientists in the expression group and coordinate with the protein purification and characterization groups in the facility
  • Optimize expression conditions for challenging proteins, including multimeric proteins, to improve yield and quality
  • Maintain and troubleshoot bioreactor systems, ensuring optimal performance and sterility
  • Analyze and interpret data from cell culture experiments, including growth curves, protein expression levels, and metabolic profiles
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate protein expression processes into larger research and development projects
  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and regulatory requirements in the laboratory
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • M.S. in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field; or
  • B.S. in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field with 2+ years of relevant post-graduate experience in a scientific setting (industrial experience preferred)
  • Authorized to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with suspension mammalian cell cultures
  • Familiarity with large-scale cell culture (up to 10L) and bioreactor systems, including WAVE bioreactors
  • Experience using cell culture analyzers, such as the BioProfile FLEX
  • Skilled in optimizing expression conditions for challenging proteins, including multimeric proteins
  • Strong foundation in sterile technique and aseptic cell culture practices
  • Proficient in working within biosafety cabinets (BSCs)
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture tasks: passaging, counting, and preparing dilutions
  • Knowledge of recombinant protein expression via transient transfection in mammalian systems
  • Proficiency in protein analysis methods: SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, and UV-Vis spectroscopy
Additional Information

This position is Full-Time,Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00p.m. with overtime as needed and the potential for some off-shift hours as depending on the project. Candidates living within a commutable distance of West Point, PA,are encouraged to apply.
