Job DescriptionProvides expertise in the operation of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). Develops flight test plans and procedures, and creates briefing and training materials to support flight operations. Plans and performs a wide range of in-process and final testing of analog, digital, microwave, optical, and mechanical systems and equipment under various ambient and environmental conditions. Possesses technical knowledge and experience with UAS operations to facilitate their safe and efficient integration into the National Airspace System (NAS). Collaborates with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including manufacturers, vendors, industry trade associations, technical standards organizations, academic institutions, research and development centers, governmental agencies, and regulators. Ensures UAS integration into the NAS does not reduce existing capacity, compromise safety, negatively impact current operators, or increase risks to airspace users or persons and property on the ground more than comparable new technologies.
QualificationsDesired: BS or MS degree in Electronic Engineering.
Minimum of 200 flight hours (not simulator). UAS operator training is required. Experience with NAS and/or military operations may be preferred.
