Job DetailsJob Location Huston-Tillotson University - AUSTIN, TX DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY The Field Supervisor is a vital member of Huston-Tillotson University's Educator Preparation Program (EPP), responsible for mentoring, observing, and evaluating Clinical Teachers and Interns. This role ensures that teacher candidates receive high-quality support aligned with the Texas Administrative Code (TAC) and the standards of the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Field Supervisors provide instructional feedback, guidance, and coaching to candidates placed in public or accredited private school settings. TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct a minimum of four formal observations per semester per candidate, in compliance with TEA and EPP policies.
  • Complete observation reports using the approved EPP template and submit within designated timelines.
  • Provide pre- and post-observation conferences with constructive feedback aligned to the T-TESS domains and Texas Teacher Standards.
  • Collaborate with Cooperating Teachers, Campus Mentors, and EPP faculty to support candidate development.
  • Maintain detailed records of observations, candidate progress, and communication logs.
  • Monitor candidate performance and provide regular written and verbal feedback.
  • Participate in orientation sessions, calibration training, and professional development required by the EPP.
  • Serve as a liaison between the EPP and the school site to address concerns and ensure compliance.
  • Attend scheduled Field Supervisor meetings and contribute to continuous improvement of the EPP.
  • Support candidates' readiness for certification by aligning feedback to TExES preparation goals.
  • Promote ethical practices, cultural responsiveness, and high expectations for teacher candidates.
  • Travel to field placement sites as needed, following university mileage and compensation guidelines.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Education or a related field
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate.
  • Minimum of three years of teaching experience in a K-12 setting, with experience as a supervisor, instructional specialist, reading specialist, or campus-level administrator.
  • Current Texas Teacher Certification.
  • Not employed at the school where the teacher candidate is completing their clinical teaching, internship, or practicum.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective instructional practices and current educational standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to provide supportive, growth-oriented feedback to adult learners.
  • Proficiency in the use of technology for communication, documentation, and virtual observation. Completion of University Field Supervisor Observation Training Certification within 30 days of assignment.

  • This position reports to the Director of Center for Adult and Continuing Education.
SALARY RANGE
  • Stipend-based compensation per candidate's observation per semester. Includes travel reimbursement for approved mileage.
POSITION STATUS
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate travel within a 50-mile radius of Huston-Tillotson University.
  • Access to reliable transportation and technology for conducting remote observations and communications.
