The Unit Clerk acts as a receptionist, communicating using good customer service skills with all persons. The Unit Clerk performs clerical duties and is also responsible for preparation and maintenance of the patient s chart including order transcription. Maintaining confidentiality and accuracy of patient records is an extremely important aspect of this position. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following: Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors Maintains medical records of patients on unit. Enters requests such as patient assignments into the computer, optilink or manual system in a timely and accurate fashion Answers and places phone calls Answers patient call lights and communicates information to nursing staff. Demonstrates effective time management Maintains established inventories of supplies. Maintains an orderly environment at the nurse s station utilize Assures smooth clerical operation on the unit.
