Brown & Brown is seeking an Underwriter Property Lines to join our growing team in FT Wayne Indiana! The Underwriter operates at an intermediate level of underwriting skill and difficulty and will work independently under moderate direction from their assigned Underwriting Team Leader. The Underwriter will operate within its assigned intermediate level of Underwriting Authority to evaluate, qualify and rate individual insurance applications/ supporting documentation for assigned underwriting files to determine the acceptability of risk factors on behalf of the carrier. This individual is expected to maintain a high level of accuracy within their work product. The Underwriter will also contribute toward the achievement of the company's premium and profitability goals as defined by its underwriting leader. How You Will Contribute: Operates with a standard level of underwriting authority granted by carrier partners. Underwrites new business, renewals and mid-term endorsements in accordance with applicable guidelines and procedures. Contributes toward the achievement of American Specialty's premium and profitability objectives. Evaluates client's property interests and exposures ensuring the level of risk has been properly assessed. Customizes pricing, coverage and policy terms in recognition of individual risk assessment. Prepares and manages referral to others for unique, complex or reinsured risks. Ensures contingencies and recommendations are implemented to address risk improvement. Examines and analyzes application form, location reports, CAT risk evaluation tools, inspection reports, financial reports, loss information, websites and internet to develop an underwriting approach and market selection. Develops and communicates informed, sound underwriting decisions. Monitor results to identify trends and developments on assigned accounts. Coordinates and actively teams with our Operations support team, Client Services, Risk Services and Claims Services, to manage quote pipeline and achieve shared objectives. May contribute to technical underwriting guide and case reference development as needed. Any other job-related duties may be assigned by your underwriting leader. Licenses and Certifications: Underwriting designations or active Agency License. Skills & Experience to Be Successful: Bachelor's degree. Possess 2+ years of on-the-job commercial underwriting experience. Demonstrates understanding of underwriting commercial property exposures and policy coverage.
