Overall Job Summary

The Manager Trainee is responsible for learning the duties of the Store Manager position and developing the skills required for a Store Manager role. Primary duties include delivering a Legendary Customer Experience, building the team, driving sales, managing inventory, managing profit and sales, expense control, reducing and managing shrink.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

As a Manager Trainee, you will observe and learn the following duties and skills required for a Store Manager role:

  • Recruiting, hiring, developing, evaluating, disciplining, and retaining efficient team members.
  • Delivering Legendary Customer Service through GURA: Greet, Uncover Needs & Wants, Recommend Solutions, Add Value & Appreciate.
  • Creating a welcoming environment that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring team members mirror the communities served.
  • Scheduling, organizing, and planning daily activities for team members.
  • Leading team members to ensure a Legendary shopping experience.
  • Communicating company policies and evaluating their effectiveness.
  • Learning to create a desirable work environment through promotions, recognition, and empowerment.
  • Problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Learning sales and profit management, accountable for achieving financial targets.
  • Promoting a safe and productive work environment.
  • Managing merchandise flow and inventory controls.
  • Organizing merchandise resets and maintaining presentation standards.
  • Evaluating the competitive environment and working with teams to ensure quality and performance.
  • Handling paperwork, sales forecasting, payroll analysis, and budget review.
  • Managing inventory needs and coordinating with supply chain teams.
  • Coordinating and conducting special sales events and supporting district operational needs.
  • Developing team members for advancement and addressing team issues.
  • Training on budgeting, sales forecasting, and store audits.
Required Qualifications

Experience in retail, farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is preferred. Supervisory experience is a plus. Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver's license.

Education: High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Agricultural-Science or Business preferred. Equivalent experience considered.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities
  • Valid driver's license if driving for business.
  • Ability to process information and merchandise via POS system.
  • Ability to read, write, and count accurately.
  • Ability to access all store areas and operate store equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work varied hours including weekends.
  • Willingness to travel to other store locations and company functions.
Working Conditions
  • Normal office conditions.
Physical Requirements
  • Standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, reaching overhead, driving, lifting up to 50 lbs.
