Title: TUTOR, ROSE HOUSE CLOSE TO HOME Non-Secure Placement Residence

Reports to: Educational/Vocational Specialist, CLOSE TO HOME NSP

Hours: Up to 10 Hours/Week; Non-Exempt (After school hours/evenings and/or weekends)

***Salary Range $16.16-$23.15 Hourly***

Job Summary: The Tutor will work one-to-one with participants ages 13-20 at Good Shepherd Services' Non-Secure Placement program, providing academic support and guidance in English, history, math, and science. The tutor will help youth develop effective study habits tailored to their individual strengths and needs, including preparation for standardized exams such as Regents' and GED exams. The tutor will also assist with completing homework, essays, and group projects, collaborating with treatment teams and school personnel. This position is in person/onsite only.

Major Duties:

  • Provide individual and group instruction for students needing academic support.
  • Assist students in understanding and completing coursework.
  • Prepare students for required exams.
  • Collaborate with Educational/Vocational Specialists to develop tutoring plans.
  • Participate as a member of the Good Shepherd NSP team.
  • Support the Missouri model of group treatment.
  • Implement Sanctuary Model tools such as safety plans, community meetings, and self-care to foster a trauma-sensitive environment.
  • Promote the seven Sanctuary Model commitments to create a non-violent, trauma-informed culture.
  • Integrate the Sanctuary Model SELF framework into daily practice to ensure quality care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Commitment to a strength-based, youth development, and trauma-informed approach.
  • Experience supporting adolescent youth with academics.
  • Teaching experience is preferred.
  • Current graduate and undergraduate students are encouraged to apply.
