Truck Driver - City of Des Moines, Iowa : Job Details

Under general supervision, to operate heavy trucks and related equipment; to assist in loading and unloading trucks; to perform related construction and maintenance work; and to do related work as required. This class differs from Equipment Operators in the type of equipment used. Truck Drivers operate various types of heavy trucks for a major portion of the time. Equipment used by truck drivers includes dump trucks, refuse collection trucks and equipment of comparable difficulty. Acceptable Experience and Training Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and One (1) year of experience in the operation of various types of trucks. Required Special Qualifications Possession of a valid Iowa Class A CDL with tank endorsement and allowing the operation of tractor trailers and vehicles with airbrakes. Candidates for positions in this class must pass a pre-employment background check, physical examination and drug screen.
