The Troop Support Specialist is a dynamic, mission-driven professional responsible for providing guidance, coaching, and ongoing support to Girl Scout troop leaders and volunteers to ensure high-quality experiences for girls. This role focuses on building strong relationships, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, supporting troop growth and retention, and connecting volunteers to resources, training, and opportunities. The Troop Support Specialist works collaboratively with other departments to help volunteers feel confident, prepared, and valued in their roles. This is a highly interactive role that requires the ability to build relationships quickly, confidence in public speaking, and a genuine passion for helping girls thrive. This role requires local and occasionally long-distance travel, and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Requirements Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a mentor to volunteers in an assigned geographical region
  • Provide ongoing training, encouragement, and opportunities for continued enrichment to empower volunteers.
  • Cultivate relationships with volunteers, community leaders, organizations and businesses to build a fellowship of support and promote Girl Scouting in the community
  • Serve as a liaison between members and staff to foster a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and encouragement
  • Communicate with members and volunteers with the ability to listen, navigate difficult situations with sensitivity, and inspire those around them in a manner that is relatable and professional.
  • Assist volunteers and members to develop and deliver girl experiences that parents value, volunteers love to deliver and engages girls in the Girl Scout Program
  • Meet council membership retention goals through the effective delivery of support services
  • Demonstrate a passion for following the principles of the Girl Scout Promise and Law and serve as a role model for girls and volunteers.
  • Host and support membership events that include fun, hands-on activities for girls and information for families
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with council-wide recruitment and retention campaigns
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, events, and planning sessions as needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support council goals and team success
Membership Goal & Performance Expectations Troop Support Specialists are each assigned a specific retention goal, which reflects both the strategic needs of their territory and the broader objectives of the council. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of experience and education. Two years' experience in sales, customer service, or member recruiting. Bilingual (Spanish/English or Hmong/Spanish) preferred but not required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Ability to work independently while meeting clear goals and deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and computer systems. Valid California driver's license, reliable vehicle, and proof of insurance. Must pass background check and become a registered member of GSUSA and GSCCS. Why Join Us?
