Job Description

The Trial Attorney represents insureds and the Company in defending bodily injury and property damage lawsuits, subrogation, and other litigated cases. This role involves preparing for and conducting hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contact clients to discuss their cases and answer questions.
  • Review new files, documentary evidence, approve initial pleadings, propound discovery, and develop strategy.
  • Investigate and pursue subrogation litigation as appropriate.
  • Conduct settlements and dispositive proceedings such as mediations and arbitrations.
  • Prepare for and conduct court appearances, including matter management conferences and hearings.
  • Conduct depositions and examinations under oath, and prepare summary documents.
  • Prepare witnesses and clients for depositions, arbitrations, mediations, and trials, including expert witnesses.
  • Try and/or arbitrate cases and prepare motions and summary documents in limine.
  • Keep claim business partners updated on case status, litigation plans, and strategy conferences.
Education
  • Four-year Bachelor's Degree (Required)
  • Juris Doctor (Required); licensed and in good standing in New York
Experience
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience (Preferred)
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This role does not have supervisory duties.
Additional Information

This role is bonus eligible, with a base salary based on skills and experience. Compensation ranges from $66,800 to $120,650 annually, depending on qualifications. The candidate will be required to submit to a background check.
