As part of AFG, you'll work on some of the most advanced construction projects nationwide, growing your career alongside our diverse team of industry professionals.

Role Summary

The General Superintendent develops and executes project plans, overseeing all aspects of complex projects. Responsibilities include managing teams, planning construction sequencing, and ensuring project goals align with JE Dunn's strategy, vision, and values. This role requires full-time on-site presence and travel across various U.S. locations.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core
  • Lead safety culture, demonstrate commitment to an injury-free environment, investigate incidents, and retrain staff as needed.
  • Manage subcontractors, organize project workflow.
  • Oversee staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and programs like Safety, Quality, EEO.
  • Develop work plans for subcontractors and self-performed work.
  • Coordinate project site management, lead meetings, manage schedules, monitor budgets, and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Ensure quality compliance, support project closeouts, and participate in project pursuit processes.
  • Partner with field leadership for staffing, schedule, and cost management; participate in negotiations and project reviews.
  • Recruit top talent and promote diversity and inclusion policies.
Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core
  • Manage large, complex projects from planning to completion; oversee multiple projects and teams.
  • Lead strategic initiatives, develop training content, and communicate leadership messages effectively.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, project management software, and construction technology.
  • Deep knowledge of construction processes, trades, self-perform work, and labor productivity.
  • Ability to manage budgets, apply Lean principles, and understand project documentation and scheduling software.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred; relevant experience considered.
Experience
  • Minimum 12+ years construction experience, including 10+ years in field supervision.
  • Experience with Lean principles and high-tech construction projects preferred.
Working Environment
  • Valid driver's license required.
